Selene is the Ancient Greek Goddess of the Moon.  The Ancient Greeks traditionally sculpted or painted her with horns.

However during the Art Deco period, a lot of Artists removed the horns and simply painted her as a beautiful woman on the moon.

Roman homages the Art Deco period as he has a soft spot for Art Deco.  Growing up, the Empire State Building was the most famous building in the world (despite the Sears Tower being taller).  And he loved the movies.  The Orinda Theater was his favorite theater because it had Art Deco Art.  There was something magical about watching a movie in it.  The Paramount Theater in Oakland was also Art Deco but the Orinda Theater is literally right by the train station and easy to get to.

So Roman homages both Art Deco and American Pop Art, with those catchy colors the viewer can't help passing by and feeling.  He wanted to recreate the magic he felt from the Art Deco theater.

Allie modeled for this masterpiece in 2024 when her family joined his for their vacation in Eastern Europe.
